Before you polish the high note, know who you are singing to and what has to change by the last measure. Musical theatre lessons here start there. If the note is pretty and the story is parked, it is not ready.
Breath is the bridge
Actors hold their breath when the feeling gets big. Singers sometimes release the feeling so the line stays pretty. Breath is where those habits meet. Voice and acting lessons put the phrase and the intention on the same exhale.
Stage presence is a series of decisions
Where you look. When you cross. What you do on the rest. “Just be confident” is not a note. In musical theatre lessons you get the note: this word, this step, this change in the face.
